Log homes may be built on piers, a concrete slab, crawl
space, or a basement. |
After the first course of logs is laid, construction of the
first floors walls continues. Doors, windows, and utility chases are cut
as the walls are built. |
Construction of the first floor walls progresses rapidly.
Most houses take 4 to 8 days to erect the first floor log walls. |
First floor walls are completely erected |
After the second floor deck --- frequently tongue and groove
--- is installed, construction of the second floor wall and roof system is
begun. |
Matching log siding is installed in the second floor gables
while the roofing is installed |
The house is now ready for doors and windows |
